How Grunfeld can help with the risk of isocyanate exposure

Posted

As of 2023, a new EU law will require persons using adhesives with over 0.1% of free diisocyanate to be trained on the risks to themselves of working with such a product. A similar rule will likely follow for the UK.

How to Prepare

Read the Material Safety Data Sheet for the adhesive you use, and refer to section 8 for details on exposure to understand if the adhesive you use could come under new rules that would mean your operators would be required to learn about the potential risks they are exposing themselves to when using the adhesives.

If you are spray applying adhesive (especially if you are using air-assisted spray) then the exposure may be greatly increased.

Where Grunfeld could help

Consider automating the application of adhesive and taking the operator out of harm’s way.

If you are looking at automated adhesive dispense, we can offer partial or fully enclosed systems – to isolate areas of exposure and facilitate the extraction of undesirable airborne particles.

If you have existing equipment we can also provide retrofit enclosures to isolate areas of exposure and facilitate the extraction of undesirable airborne particles.
