Cost of ownership

A suitable equipment specification can save many hours of set-up, cleaning and servicing time and cost.
Especially where different materials are being processed through the same equipment or stringent quality systems require a clear separation between each batch.
Starting with the design – minimising the number and complexity of fluid contact parts is always beneficial, because it reduces the number of parts that need to be cleaned.
Likewise, minimal moving fluid contact parts means reduced wear and extended service life between maintenance intervals.
Grunfeld smart actuation technology driven by Servo Motors and controlled with programable logic gives possibilities for equipment parameters to be set, saved and quickly and easily recalled (via Touchscreen). Minimising the requirements to make manual/mechanical adjustments.
Where moving parts are in contact with the fluids/materials, wear on contacting parts is often increased especially when fluid pressures are high and/or the materials contain abrasive particles/solids. This is a further reason why keeping fluid contact parts to a minimum is advantageous – not only does it reduce cleaning (when required) it also minimises wear and servicing requirements.
Whilst filling speeds and outputs are very important, it is also critical not to overlook set-up, cleaning and servicing times, which can very quickly eat into output, especially where small runs/batches of different materials are being processed through the same piece of equipment.
Reduced set-up time, reduced cleaning and reduced servicing requirements all combine to maximise uptime, and reduce the total cost of ownership.
